Tynemouth Surf Co was established in 1995 by surfing legend Stephen Hudson. It is now owned by his son Louis Thomas-Hudson, former captain of Team GB junior surf team. Tynemouth Surf Co was voted ‘Best Surf School in the UK for 2017 at the UK Pro Surf Tour awards.
Situated on the seafront above the award winning Tynemouth Longsands beach it provides a one stop shop for all of your surfing needs.
We provide a range of products and services including Surf Lessons and Equipment Hire. Unlike the landlocked warehouses of the internet we can provide a free consultation service. This helps you get equipment that is a great fit and appropriate to your needs and ability. We will even price match on like for like products wherever possible so pop down to the shop today.
Just a short walk from the shop on Tynemouth Longsand’s Beach you will find our Surf School. We provide beginner to intermediate lessons for individuals as well as tailored courses for schools, parties and groups. Check out the surf school pages for more information including the incredibly popular kids clubs. If you’re looking for a present our gift vouchers are a great option as they can be used for products from the shop or surf lessons & hire.
Situated behind the surf shop is the hire centre which has a wide selection of surfboards and wetsuits for all sizes and abilities. During busy periods equipment hire is also available from the surf school on the beach. Please visit the contact us page for more info on how to find us.
We also provide a wide range of after sales services including a SurfCam and weather information so you can check the conditions and decide whether it is worth a surf.
When disaster strikes we can offer board repairs at competitive prices through our partnership with a local board repair specialist.
Run by surfers for surfers we pride ourselves on keeping up on the latest boards, wetsuits and hardware consequently remaining a core of the surfing industry. We are not a lifestyle shop; our shop revolves around working surfers and surfing culture, using only brands which are designed and produced directly for the surfing industry.
Surf whenever possible, enjoy it while it lasts, and most importantly don’t take things too seriously.
